Keith Sweat’s Ex on ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’
Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” premiered this week, but it seems the show wasn’t completely accurate in its portrayal of the ladies and their families.
Lisa Wu Hartwell — first person on the left and the only one on the show who actually had a job –used to be married to Keith Sweat, but the singer will not allow their sons, 13 year-old Jordan and 11 year-old Justin, to appear on camera.
She told E! Online, “He didn’t sign a waiver. He’s like, ‘Lisa, it’s nothing personal. I just really don’t know how they’re going to edit and if they’re going to make you look crazy. I just don’t want the kids to be, you know, overexposed or anything.’ “
I can’t say I blame Keith for this one. The show hasn’t exactly gotten warm reviews so far. Look at what folks are saying:
What a waste of time! Show REAL women handling everyday issues ie; first being a WIFE, kids, work, households!!You can tell these women got their money by lying on their backs and not born into money….Golddiggers at best (not impressed on AccessAtlanta.com)
Why don’t they put Real “Normal” housewives on the show? Might as well have called it Nasty Money Hungry Women and Their Cribs in Atlanta. (Jenna on Eonline.com)
This is by far the most classLESS show on Bravo. The fact that the ladies are pretty and rich does not diminish the fact that they MARRIED wealth. These golddiggers did not earn it like some sisters did - education and hard work. Well, some did earn it… Why are we celebrating these golddiggers? The white chick who thinks she’s black because she a rich brother’s ‘ho - Puhleeze!!! As for the four sisters, they DO NOT represent wealthy women of color. NO WAY, NO HOW, NOT TODAY… (Winston on EW.com)
You won’t believe what Keith Sweat is singing for now! Get the details…
Of course, I’ll be watching anyway. You know, for journalistic purposes.

So with the other installments of this show, were those women coined classless and golddiggers as well?
I watched the show and not that I don’t agree with the comments, but I find the criticism interesting since this time around the cast is majority african american women and other installments were all white women, but I didn’t hear much criticism on those shows.
Overall I think the show should be re-named, since these shows don’t reflect real everyday women that live pay check to pay check maintaining and juggling households and careers. But then I guess the executives don’t think there’s entertainment in that.

I agree that these women did get their money from a spouse, & don’t live an everyday life like most of us but so what. On the other shows the women got their money the same way or it was inherited but they weren’t called gold diggers. We are so hard on our black women & men & it is so sad. If one don’t get out & sweat or work a 9 to 5 then they aren’t real enough? Give these women a break. they’re living the lives most of us want. The other housewives were watched so why would this one be different? So either watch the show or don’t, your choice. Go Housewives of Atlanta!

Blah the haters jealous because these Housewives are fulfilling their personal vision of laviousness and beauty! Is it a crime for a woman to just ‘be’? Not barely 20 years ago, a man took immense pride in ‘doing’ for his woman. As proud as I am of the self-made women (which I’m sure not below striving to become myself)…..it’s a long, grueling, path. Ask Oprah. I wouldn’t mind having a man to rub my aching feet from a long day rat-racing it—or better yet, that man calling in a personal masseuce AND chef to REALLY bring on the relaxation. Let’s not be so jealous because these women found someone to treat them the way we wanna be treated……like pampered princesses. Like captivating Queens. Envy’s such a waste of emotion and energy. I myself watch to TAKE NOTES ON HOW TO LAY GAME WITH THE BIG TIMERS, and am damn proud of it! lol. Cheer up. If ya can’t beat em, JOIN EM!

I think the show is o.k. Some of the women are over the top such as Nene, and sorry to say Kim. But I love Deshawn and Lisa they are true real women.

I THINK THE SHOW IS GOOD. I LOVE THAT SISTERS ARE DOING THERE THING. THEY MY HAVE GOTTEN THE ENDS FROM A MAN BUT THEY GOT IT SO DON’T HATE. IF YOU JEALOUS TELL US. NOW SOME OF THEM WOMEN REALLY NEED A REALITY CHECK LIKE NENE AND SHEREE THOSE TWO WOMEN REALLY NEED TO TAKE A LOOK IN THE MIRROR. THEY REALLY NEED TO BACK UP AND FIX THOSE NASTY ASS ATTITUDE AND MAYBE THEY CAN GET UP THERE WERE DESHAWN AND LISA ARE. AS FOR SHE NEEDS TO STOP TRYING TO BE A SINGER AND GET INTO FASHION OR SOMETHING.

I have watched all of the house-wive shows and they all have had pretentious women on them. If I remember correctly; however everyone of them that behaved badly received the same bad reviews. Some of the characters on this one, I like and some I don’t, but we must remember this: Everything is edited and put in a different context. Let us wait and see the reunion and then maybe some of the behavior will be better explained. As for Kim and Sharee they have a lot of explaining to do. I am however tired of the racial card being played, though. On the other shows the women were white and got the same bad reviews for their behavior. I read their bloggs and they were called whores, gold diggers among many other names, just as these of Atlanta are. Remember, this is just entertainment, and in that business things are never as they seem.

The show is kinda neat. I would like to see the ladies on the show cling more to their natural beauty. Make up is fine, but the weaves on this show are awful. These ladies would look better without them.

Honestly, I am happy to see such successful Black women. It does nto matter how you perceive them to have gotten the money because you don’t know anythign about the personal lives of these women before the show and whatthey had to endure. Some of them have had very rough lives and they were lucky enough to get into a better situation. Lots of women dream about living a life inw hich they dont have to worry about money and these women have it. Not only do they have it but they use it for lots of great purposes. I dont undertsand why people, other black women at that, feel the need to get upset and crititcize the women just because they have money and can show how they live and other women cant. They are called Real Housewives because they balance jobs, parenthood, a marriage, and remaining beautiful at the same time. They don’t have to be poor to be real.

I really thought the show was entertaining, I took it for what it was a “reality show”. So my expectations were not that high. I was a little disappointed on the cast. Not saying it was anything wrong with the ladies. I loved all except two. I feel that the producers pick the wrong group of women (purposely), to keep up the negative stereo type of black women. Instead of them going out getting self-made black women, they picked women who mainly benefited more from their husbands Athletic Careers instead of women who bring in the $$$$ without a man. Don’t get me wrong there is nothing wrong with having a man that make the money and takes care of his family. But look at The Real Housewives of Orange County. Those ladies made the bread. I just fill it was the producer’s responsibilities to even out the playing field. I know Lisa is not the only women in ATL that makes money. I Love you NeNe, and Greg is great. Lisa, you and Deshuan have beautiful relationships with you husbands and I think that is awesome. Sheree, I hope this was just for T.V. And Kim get it right with God, when you get your husband I am sure you are not going to appreciate anyone calling him Big Poppa. Even if he does tell her he is getting a divorce. The one thing about karma is you don’t always get it how you give it!!!! Love ya’ll!!
