Songwriter Claims Rights to Beyonce’s “If I Were a Boy”
It wouldn’t be a Beyonce album without some controversy.
While B has said publicly that she worked for over a year on her new album, it seems the thought-provoking lyrics to “If I Were a Boy” were actually penned by a 21 year-old songwriter from California.
According to Fox News, BC Jean originally wrote the song for another producer who later shopped it to Beyonce without her knowing. A reported part of their legal settlement is that the two singers will collaborate officially on BC’s debut album once she gets signed.
