In addition to his environmental and political causes, Russell Simmons recently founded the Diamond Empowerment Fund (DEF), a non-profit to raise money for education and economic empowerment in Africa.
On Wednesday, his group partnered with Christie’s to auction off diamonds from the De Beers Venetia mine. The rocks pictured were cut from a rough diamond that weighed over 316 carats!
