Brownstone’s Nicci Gilbert Denies “Real Housewives of Atlanta” Homewrecker Rumors
First Keith Sweat and Dallas Austin, now Nicci Gilbert. The former singer from 90’s R&B trio Brownstone is the latest music star to be thrown into the ongoing saga that is “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.”
After the reality show wrapped, several blogs claimed that Gilbert was behind the break-up of Sheree’s marriage to NFL star Bob Whitfield. However, the singer calls the mudlinging “a blatant all-and-out false rumor and lie.” Here’s what she told AOL’s Black Voices:
“Bob and I dated before Sheree and Bob were married. Bob and I were involved and it was a serious involvement. But when he got with her, his and my relationship was put on hold. Even our friendship was put on hold. When he discovered what the situation was with her, he reached out and I was there for him as a friend. A friend and only a friend! And I use the word ‘friend’ meaning somebody being a confidant and nothing more. We were not involved in a relationship at all during that time.”
Despite the gossip, the singer expressed hope that Sheree and Bob would heal some of their issues with each other. She also said that she may appear on the show’s second season to give the couple’s daughter Kaleigh singing lessons.
