Back in ‘06, Mya was poised for a comeback. I got the chance to interview her about her album Liberation, and she talked about feeling reinvigorated about her career, being a huge Donna Summer fan, and how the song “Ridin” (one of my faves) was inspired by her actual experience of doing a drive-by on a cheating boyfriend. 

Then, I don’t know what happened. The album never came out, and Mya seemed to just disappear.

Well, I just got word of these new tracks from a disc supposedly called Sugar & Spice. Not sure if that will be a proper album or if this is just a bunch of songs that leaked and someone pieced together.

I’m feeling the overall mellowness of it. She’s even got a random cover of Diana King’s 1995 hit “Shy Guy.” Go figure.
