New Eve Album (Finally) Dropping This Year
Way back in 2007, I got the chance to attend a listening session for Eve’s Here I Am album. Filled with reggae rhythms, party anthems, and ample singing by the diva herself, the record definitely spoke to Eve’s transition from rough-around-the-edges Philly cypher queen to glamorous Hollwood starlet. Then, like so many before her, the disc got pushed back more times than Detox.
After switching from Interscope to Geffen Records, the rapper now says the album will drop this year with brand new songs and a new title, Flirt.
“Unfortunately I am caught up in a whole music label situation. The album is finally going to come out this spring or summer. But with all the time that passed, we went back in and reworked the whole thing,” she told New York Post’s PopWatch. “I had to get in there and put in some upbeat music that I wasn’t depressed about. It’s fun, it’s sexy, it’s totally me. Imagine if ‘Tambourine’ had kids — that’s what the CD sounds like.”
On another note, Dr. Dre must hold the world record for signing marquee artists only to bench and eventually drop them. Rakim, Busta Rhymes, Eve, Raekwon…
Wait – should that title go to Puffy instead? 112, Faith, Total, Carl Thomas….
Speak of the devil, former Bad Boy artist Mark Curry says there’s a warm spot in hell for his old boss. For those that blinked in the year 2001 and missed it, Mark rapped on the song “Bad Boy For Life.” Apparently, dude is so pissed at the demise of his career, he even wrote a book about it: Dancing With The Devil: How Puff Burned the Bad Boys of Hip-Hop.
Is it really that serious?
