No More “Salt-N-Pepa Show,” Pepa Looks For Love
It looks like there will be a little less old school hip-hop on reality TV these days. Having reached their goal to amend the long-standing friction between them, Salt-N-Pepa recently confirmed that they will not be filming any more episodes of their eponymous VH1 show. Instead, Pepa will star in her own vehicle to document her dating life and vow of celibacy.
“We did good numbers, but when you put them up to ‘I Love New York’ or ‘Rock of Love,’ our numbers were just okay because it didn’t render that kind of drama,” Salt told Essence.com. “So they wanted to try something else and their dating shows have been doing well so they recruited Pep to have her own show.”
Pepa will be joined in her pursuit of love by former BET News anchor Jacque Reid; Joumana Kidd, ex-wife to NBA baller Jason Kidd; and — get this — who played the virtual animation chick Cita on BET’s “Cita’s World.” (Does anyone even know what she looks like?) Salt and her sister Kim James will also serve as Executive Producers.
