Justin Timberlake & Beyonce's "Saturday Night Live" spoof

Count yourself lucky if you got to see last week’s “Saturday Night Live” sketch in which Justin Timberlake played a backup dancer for Beyonce’s “Single Ladies.” 

Almost immediately after we posted the video on Monday, it was removed from YouTube because of copyright issues. So, naturally we headed over to NBC.com to retrieve the original. Only, it wasn’t there — or anywhere else online, for that matter.

When the conversation of 80’s jackin’ in current music comes up, Prince is often cited as the primary influence. (See Ciara’s “Promise,” Justin’s Futuresex/Lovesounds and The-Dream’s entire album.) But you gotta give props to Teddy Riley when it’s due.

Not only did he helm Snoop’s latest project, but the Harlem native also created New Jack Swing and the seminal sounds of Keith Sweat, Heavy D. and more. So, what does Teddy himself have to say about a certain singer’s take on his popular use of, uh, vocal enhancements?

T-Pain is a great creator, but he needs to do a little more creatively to make real music. He can be one who comes and goes or one who stays. He’s now in his prime and having fun like I did, but in the midst of having fun, I made classics.”
