Nick Cannon & Mariah Carey

At first, I thought Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey’s relationship was a pure sham concocted either a) during an unfortunate drunken weekend in Vegas, or b) as a publicity scheme dreamed up to boost their careers. (Translation: his career since Mimi could make the phone book go platinum.)

But could their marriage be real, like actually based on love, respect, and trust? It must be to cause dude to contantly snap on folks through his blog. Our boy Nick has been on a straight nobody-bet-not-say-nothin-bout-my-wife mission lately.

Look how he called out Eminem for the leaked song “Bagpipes From Baghdad: (more…)

Did “106 & Park” Kill “TRL”?

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

Rihanna on MTV's TRL and 106 & ParkAfter a decade of clogging Times Square with screaming, wide-eyed teenagers, MTV has decided to pull the plug on “TRL.”

“We want to close this era of `TRL’ in a big celebratory way, and 10 is a great number,” said Executive Producer Dave Sirulnick. “We hit this 10th (anniversary) and we thought, `You know what? This feels like the right time and let’s celebrate it and let’s reward it. And let’s let it have a little bit of a rest for a minute.’”

While the network claims the November finale of “TRL” is the start of an indefinite hiatus rather than an actual cancellation, what they aren’t saying is that the once iconic show took an undeniable ass whooping at the hands of BET’s “106 & Park.”

Since 2001, BET’s daily video countdown has averaged 575,000 viewers — that’s almost double TRL’s 300,000 — and is expanding its brand with an online community, “106 & Connect,” and a gospel spinoff premiering in 2009.

Apparently, Tom Cruise joc’ing on you haters trumps a Mariah Carey strip tease any day.
